Hi Pallavi,

You shouldn't give the absolute path of the Class file in the <servlet-class> tag. The path should be relative to C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\webapps\ch1\WEB-INF\classes.

In your case you need to give the class name <servlet-class>Ch1Servlet</servlet-class>.

Hope this helps

Regards,
Phani.

Hi Anoop,

Try setting the session time out period in the DD.

Add the below lines to your web.xml. It makes the session to get destroyed one minute after it is created.

<session-config>
<session-timeout>1</session-timeout>
</session-config>

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Phani.

Hi Leena,

Make sure the following are in place.

i) All the Servlet classes are under webapps/trials/WEB-INF/classes directory.
ii) The DD web.xml is in webapps/trials/WEB-INF directory.

Regards,
Phani.
Hi Gian,

It also depends on how you write you Deployment Descriptor. If you specify "load-on-startup" element for a partical servlet in the DD then the servlet will be loaded as per the value that is assigned to this element.

In case if this element is missing in the web.xml then loading of Servlet will be determined by the container. It can happen at the time of container startup or can be delayed until the container determines the servlet is needed to service a request. This implimentaion varies from one container to the other.
