I am running a simple compression program I found on the web. I'm trying to get a better idea of how it works. It runs OK but the final Zip file isn't compressed. I am compressing 2 pictures which are about 1.6 MB total but the final zip file is also 1.6 MB. Attached is my source.
Any suggestions?

Can someone post a website with a comprehensive list of all or most of the Java API's?
Much appreciated.

Ok I'll give that a try.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks CJ.
I removed
sqlResults = statement.executeQuery(strQuery); AND
rowCount = statement.executeUpdate(strQuery);
Things seem to working now.
By the way is there a way to tell if you are Dropping a table or creating one?
Thanks,
Craig
I have a GUI set up so the user can enter SQl commands. I have two tables set up in an Access DB. I have been able to do query commands OK as well as insert and delete but have been having problems with drop table and create table. Everytime I try to create a table it says that table already exists but I know it doesn't. If I try to drop the table I get an error say that the table doesn't exist.
Part of my problem is I don't fully understand how drop and create commands work. Below is the code I am using to execute any SQL commands entered. I have some extra displays in there to help me troubleshoot the problem.
Any suggestions?
I am new to retrieving data from an Access database using JAVA code with enbedded SQL. I am just doing a basic SELECT * FROM database. So all the records show up, but my columns are all uneven.
What can I use to get my columns lined up under the column headers? I would like to have the 1st position of the column to be lined up with the headers and all the data below it.
Thanks,
Craig
If have a button that plays a variety of short audio clips. It is working OK except that if I click on the play button twice in a row. I expect it to play the audio two times. Instead it plays only a snipet, with the first click and for the second click it plays the entire audio clip.
This is my audio code

I would like to set a flag telling me whether the audio is still playing but am having problems finding methods that can tell me if my audio is still playing or stopped.
Can someone point me in the direction of the correct audio method?
Thanks,

I have a series of buttons on my application. I have added a menu bar with menu items that match my buttons. I have coded my menu items with buttons.doClick(). So when I click on a menu item the associated button is performed, which is what I want to happen.
My problem is that when I click on the menu item the associated button flashes like it is being clicked with the mouse. I want the button method performed but I do not want the button to flash. The only time the button should flash is if I click on the button with my mouse.
Any ideas on keeping that button from flashing.
Thanks,
Craig

Ok can you help me understand public API. I found documentation for delimitedStringToArray() at the following address, which looked official.
http://www.laroe.com/javadoc/com/laroe/formatters/Strings.html
Is there a link to the public API?
I guess I am a little confused.
Thanks,
Craig

I am using a StringTokenizer in my application but recently discovered delimitedStringToArray(). I am trying to test it but am unable to get it to compile. The documentation seems pretty straight forward. Has anybody every used this before?

I see your point. I'm scaling from the new "zoomed" image not the original image. Let me look into scaling from the original each time.
Thanks,

I am zooming in and out of an image using
ImageIcon images2 = new ImageIcon(images[imageCount].getImage().getScaledInstance(width, height, Image.SCALE_SMOOTH));
Everything is working except after zooming in and out a couple of times the image starts getting distorated. Almost to the point that I can't even recognize the image.
Any ideas,
Craig
