Hi,

I am putting my config xml (config.xml) in a jar file (say MyConfig.jar) under a package "com.my.package". This jar is kept as a project utility jar under in my ear. Another utility jar (say MyUtil.jar) is having classes which need to read this xml. This jar is also kept as a project utility jar in the ear. The manifest of MyUtil.jar contains MyConfig.jar in the classpath. Now from a class within MyUtil.jar, how do i read config.xml ? I have tried the following.

(1)
InputStream ipStream = ClassLoader.getSystemResourceAsStream("com/my/package/config.xml");

--> this dosent work : after this statement is executed, ipStream is null.

(2)
String fileName = "com/my/package/config.xml";
InputStream ipStream = this.getClass().getResourceAsStream(fileName);

--> this dosent work : after this statement is executed, ipStream is null.

(3)
String fileName = "com/my/package/config.xml";
file = new File(fileName);
fileReader = new FileReader(file);
is = new InputSource(fileReader);

--> Dosent work either: says file not found.

Any idea, how to read the congif.xml file ???

Thanks,
Aju
Hi folks,

can any one suggest me, from Eclipse and NetBeans, which is a better IDE for J2EE development using open source technologies. Presently i am using Eclipse 3.0, but have to set up lots of plugins like lomboz for J2EE development. I dont have much idea about NetBeans. But i've read that NetBeans 4 is offering lots of goodies for J2EE development. Can any one suggest which one is better.

Thanks,
Aju

Even I am preparing for the same. Can any one please provide some links for free mock tests on the same.

Hey Arch, for studying the same, download the redbook "WebSphere Studio Application Developer Version 5 Programming Guide" from the following link:

Thanks,
Aju

Hi,

I am trying to execute a stored proc in DB2 using jdbc. Am getting an error on this stetement:
stmt.execute();
where stmt is an instance of CallableStatement. The Error message is :

COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2Exception: [IBM][CLI Driver][DB2/SUN] SQL10013N The specified library "<name>" could not be loaded.

Where <name> is the name of my stored proc.

Note:
1)the connection is established succesfully and i am also able to execute simeple SQL statements using that connection object.
2) I am writing the code in IBM Visual Age for Java (VAJ).

Is there any settings that has to be made in VAJ ?? The classpath settings of the Drivers seem to be fine, since i am able to get the connection succesfully and am also able to execute simple sql statements.

Any idea ???

Thanks,
Aju
Thanks Ade.. i did visit SF.net site. quite interesting. but i am relatively new to EJB and other J2EE technologies. can u please suggest some resource/sites where i can find some dummy projects which i can develop on my own, just for learning experience.
Thanks,

Aju
guyz, i am also having the same querry. it would be a great help if somebody caan suggest some good sites/resources for some projects involving EJB, jsp etc.

deployment means making the j2ee component (ejbs, jsps, servlets, etc) available to the container (A container is what manages u'r j2ee components - the web server for the JSPs/servlets , the app-server for u'r EJBs ...). Usually different container products have different ways for deployment, but usually follow a general pattern. deployment consists of placing u'r components (JSPs, servlets, EJBs ...) at the proper place (i mean the directory location for the web/application server) and informing the web/application server about the same by writing deployment descriptors. A deployment descriptor is usually an XML file which describes the component u are deploying. u can also mention several deployment time options in the deployment descriptior. only after u deploy the components, the container will be aware of u'r component.
Cheers...
Aju.
hi.... i have installed jboss_3.2 (tomcat version) and also tomcat_4.1.29 (installed seperately). my problem is that when the jboss server is running, i cannot start the tomcat server (obviously bcoz the tomcat server of jboss would be running). but i want to run the the JSP pages in my tomcat web server (the seperate installation) and call the ejbs deployed in the jboss server from those web pages. Is there any setting in jboss where in i can specify that the web server bundled with the jboss dont run when i start jboss, so that i can use my seperate tomcat installation ? Alternatively , in the tomcat bundled with jboss, where do i deploy the JSPs ?
Thanks,
Aju.
