Hi
I dont' know the answer for ur first Q on catching the error..

For the second Q, It is necessary to have the user and pswd entered in tomcat-users.xml only if u r using the MemoryRealm which looks for entries in this file, If u r using a different Realm like JDBC then u will have those in ur database. So it depends on what Realm u r using.

Thanks

Hi Mark,
Hope u must hv solved it by now, but nevertheless, u can achieve the same without editing the java.security file by passing it as a System property to the JVM while starting your application.

Hi

Have you specified the location of the configuration file in java.security file. If not, try editing the java.security file located in $JAVA_HOME\jre\lib\security folder

Check for the following line in java.security #login.config.url.1=file:${user.home}/.java.login.config
and add this
login.config.url.1=file:C:\<UrFolderWhereConfigFileExists>\<ConfigFileName>

Try running the app again and see whether this solves ur problem

Thanks

Hi,

I would like to make use of JAAS LoginModule to authenticate the users via LDAP or make use of JAZNLDAP to authenticate via a 3rd party LDAP Server.

I am using OAS 10g (9.0.4)

I have tried the demo application provided as a sample namely 'CallerInfo' which made use of OID as the LDAP Server, I was able to run it successfully and the authentication was done properly via OID.

But i would like to make use of SunOne Directory Server as the LDAP Server.

1. Does OAS 10g(9.0.4) support authentication via a 3rd party LDAP Server.

2. If it does, could you please let me know what are the configuration settings that has to be made to make use of
SunOne directory server as the LDAP server.

3. Is it possible to use JAZN itself as the JAAS Provider and specify the usage of SunOne Directory Server, but i
would not like to go for the DIP Mechanism where i have to have both OID and the 3rd party LDAP server. I don't want OID in picture at all.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have a requirement where my application is hosted in Tomcat and where the authentication of the users has to be done using LDAP directory (SUN ONE Directory Server).

I have gone thro' the "Realm-Howto" of Tomcat Realms.

Could ne1 let me know how to make use of the Tomcat and LDAP . Or how to make use of some standard LDAP LoginModule which i can just use it as a pluggable component to authenticate the users (using JAAS perhaps).

Hoping for someone to help me with a solution..

Thanks

Hi

I have a requirement where I have to Restart my Tomcat5 Server, programatically, Could ne1 help me out in letting me know the appropriate API to make use of, to achieve this.

I don't want to reload/redeploy the webapp, but the Tomcat Server itself.

Thanks In Advance

The attribute is set in the Action Class --> request.setAttribute("CachedBeans",beans);, where on success it is forwarded to jsp1.jsp, And in jsp1.jsp as i mentioned, I am able to get the set CachedBeans value which is a collection object, I did setting the same request attribute in jsp1.jsp, but even then the value was not visible to jsp2.jsp.

Thanks

hi, I have problem in retrieving the request attribute in IFRAME.
the following are the snippets, in jsp1.jsp, i have an IFRAME whose src is jsp2.jsp, where i would like to retrieve the set request attribute, this value i can retrieve in jsp1.jsp, but inside the IFRAME i am getting null value..

jsp1.jsp
--------

<td>
<%
Collection beans=(Collection)request.getAttribute("CachedBeans");
out.println("Size of cacheBeans is "+beans.size()+);
%>
<iframe name="frame1" id="frame1" tabIndex="-1" width="100%" height="100%" frameborder="0" src="jsp2.jsp"></iframe>
</td>

jsp2.jsp
--------

Collection beans = (Collection)request.getAttribute("CachedBeans");
if (beans != null) {
Iterator beansIterator=beans.iterator();
while (cacheBeanIterator.hasNext())
{
//process the bean
}
}

I am able to get the set attribute in jsp1.jsp and it prints the size properly, but in the iframe where the src is set to jsp2.jsp, if I try to retrieve the attribute's value, then it is returning null, could ne1 please let me know how to retrieve the set request Attribute. And also i can't pass it as an parameter to the jsp2.jsp since it is a Collection object

Hi
I am trying to add an employee record. The problem I am facing is, on clicking on "Create" I get an exception that the unique constraint is violated on the Emp_No field,
While I debugged, I found that it called the doPost method and based on the action parameter set ( in this case addNewEmp) it calls the appropriate method in the servlet)
and that the record is created, but strangely it again tries to insert the same record, that is the method doAddNewEmp(..) is called again.... I have no idea as why this is happening, this has taken a few days of mine without any progress..

Could ne1 help me out in figuring why this is happening pls....??

Thanks
John
:::JSP CODE SNIPPET:::

:::SERVLET CODE SNIPPET:::

In my case it always is redirected to the page in the catch (SQLException) part.. indicating SQL exception has occurred.. But the record has been inserted into the database...

Any suggestions please?

Thanks Jeanne and Julian
I am not passing all the parmeters in the URL while doing an update., I am setting only the empNo in the URL, what i had thought was on clicking on the update link, instead of calling the jsp, forward it to the servlet with the empNo and then from the servlet set all these values in the request object and do a forward to the jsp, but I wanted to avoid these, bcoz all these values were already present when the user clicks on the Update Link, the only concern is how to get those values in the next page without sending all the parameters as part of the URL.
May be this needs a shift in the design...
Thanks again

JSP
Hi,

scenario: The list of employees is listed to the Administrator who has the option of deleting the record, update the record or change the password.

In the below given snippet rs is the disconnected ResultSet which is passed from the servlet.

******************************************************************
<%
while (rs.next())
{
name = ((rs.getString(2)==null)?" ":rs.getString(2))+ " "+
((rs.getString(3)==null)?" ":rs.getString(3))+ " "+
((rs.getString(4)==null)?" ":rs.getString(4));

phNo = ((rs.getString(5)==null)||("0".equals(rs.getString(5))))?"--":rs.getString(5);

chatId = ((rs.getString(7)==null)||("0".equals(rs.getString(7))))?"--":rs.getString(7);
%>
<tr >
<td>
<FONT COLOR=BLACK FACE='Geneva, Arial' SIZE=3><%= rs.getString(1)%></FONT>
<input type="hidden" name="empName" value="hhfhj" >
</td>
<td>
<FONT COLOR=BLACK FACE='Geneva, Arial' SIZE=3><%= name %></FONT>
</td>
<td>
<FONT COLOR=BLACK FACE='Geneva, Arial' SIZE=3><%= phNo %></FONT>
</td>
<td>
<FONT COLOR=BLACK FACE='Geneva, Arial' SIZE=3><%= rs.getString(6)%></FONT>
</td>
<td>
<FONT COLOR=BLACK FACE='Geneva, Arial' SIZE=3><%= chatId %></FONT>
</td>
<td>
<FONT COLOR=BLACK FACE='Geneva, Arial' SIZE=2>
<a href='<%= request.getContextPath() %>\adminupdate.jsp?empNo=<%= rs.getString(1) %>' target='_self'>Update</a> / <a href='<%= request.getContextPath() %>\admindelemp.jsp?empNo=<%= rs.getString(1) %>&empName=<%= rs.getString(2) %>' target='_self'>Delete </a>/<a href='<%= request.getContextPath() %>\adminchangepswd.jsp?empNo=<%= rs.getString(1) %>&empName=<%= rs.getString(2) %>' target='_self'>Change Pswd </a>
</FONT>
</td>
</tr>
<%
}
%>

******************************************************************

For updation of the employee details, On clicking the Update link, the control is forwarded to the adminupdate.jsp page with the empNo Parameter.. On the adminupdate page i would want to display the data of the selected employee. But these values are not available in the request object, I don't want to call another servlet passing the empNo and fetching the values of the employee as the values were already available in the previous page, so I would like to know what would be the best approach in getting the same values in the admin update page.

Thanks
