Hi Guys,
I have question regarding the resouces loaded in a web page by a HTTP Request. In a simple html web page if I have some images, does the HTTP makes a individual call for each image? or does it get all the contents of the web page along with images in one request?

Any pointers to support your answer would be great.

If I generate around 200 page document everything works fine but when the number of page generation increased to 500, on server I get OutOfMemoryError and user's browser keeps clocking.

What is the best way to stream large pdf document generated on fly (about 500 pages) to client from a servlet.

I am using Bufferedoutpustream and I did set the content type, (although I didn't set up up the length as I don't know the size of document) ....

Please suggest me how to solve this timeout problems and outof memroy issues on server.

After working as a contractor for last 2 years, recently I started my job search as my contract ended. I am in touch with all the latest developments in J2EE technlogy, but every J2EE job post I see on monster & career builder are asking for IBM Websphere experience. I have worked with J2EE applications for last 3 years without EJB part and never required to work on any application server and with this new requirement in every job post I am wondering how much does it matter if I don't have experience IBM Websphere.

Do I really need to have any experience with it if I am not using any EJB's? What exactly my role would be as a programmer be on Websphere.What I will be doing with Websphere, I assume some deployments, correct me if I am wrong. I am pretty much experienced with Sun One server, including configuring, deployment, scheduling etc. Will this experience be sufficient to start working Websphere or other application server.

How can I get some experience with application servers? Guys please post your opinions/suggestions.

How y'all doing today? Need your help.

I am generating some pdf files from a base pdf template on fly and streaming them to client. When I do this just for one file it is working fine, but now I need to generate several files and stream all of them to client at once. So in this situtaion what are my options?

I did search on google and found that one option would be to compress the content and stream it to client. [ UD: removed link to copyrighted material ] , but how can modify the code on this site to stream dynamically generate pdf file(s) stream to client as a zip file?

Ranchers, please provide me some input to handle this situation. Any other useful sites/information is greatly appreciated.

After getting my MS in comp. science in US, I started working as a Java Developer for a startup company, after working 6 months I was out of projects to work on, so I joined my current company as a contractor and been with this company for last 2 years. During first year at this company I did enjoy my work as I learned new technologies and got chance to work on different parts of project.

Now I am offered a full time position, but this company being a mid sized company our team is small and there is no proper organizational structure, moreover not enough to learn and to work on, So I decided to leave this company and look for a FT position with another company. I haven't worked in a big software company and not sure of path that a java developer can take..so I need some useful input about the career path and really appreciate suggestions about how the career will be if I stick to Java, J2EE field (which of course I love to be with).

Some of my friends have switched to SAP and working as contractors and making better bucks, but I am not sure if it is good idea to switch to SAP from my current field j2ee (I am working in Java for last 4-5 years, which includes 2.5 years of J2EE). So I want to get an idea how the career path will be (generally) if I chose to stick to this field than switching to SAP for monetary reasons.

Which version did you appear for and could you please tell me the material/books/mocks you used for the test.

I have decided to go for 1.4 version as it covers JSTL, EL etc which I am planning to use for my next project.
I have Professional JSP (2nd Edition by Wrox), is this sufficient for JSP part of SCWCD 1.4? How about servlets part, which book/material will be helpful? What versions of JSP and Servlets does 1.4 test?
PS: Lakshmi Kalidindi, it would be very helpful if you can provide me the list of books,maerial you are using for your preparation.

Friends need some advice. I got the coupon free beta exam. I want to start preparing for the exam (is it too late?), what material/books are avialable for this exam. I did some school projects using UDDI,WSDL,SOAP and XML, but it has been over a year or more dont know how much time I need to prepare for this exam. Any information/ advice is really appreciated.

Just wanted to add my opinion with certification. I worked with java for almost around 2 years at school in various projects, but only after certification (got 88% in SCJP1.4 ) I got enough confidence and faced job interviews with better confidence. So for all my friends who has the same question...i have one answer 'to feel better and do better'
Now I am in job and I want to get SCWCD, and it's hard for me to take out time for preparation and dont know how much time I need. Although SCWCD 1.4 seems good, I dont want to wait till june to get hold of a book for preparation, so I want to go for SCWCD 1.3 asap. I have around 2 yrs of experience in JSP/servlets can someone suggest me how much time and wat resources I need to get through SCWCD 1.3.
