Remember "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"? Just looking at the list of villains, it's almost like half the members of JavaRanch. If this sounds non-PC, forgive me....

Does anyone know any companies offering basic Java training other than the SUN authorized trainers here in the San Francisco Bay Area or Sacramento? We have half a dozen developers who need it.

If you know please contact me via JavaRanch.

Thanks. I will check these out. We have purify for UNIX currently. We just need one for our LINUX platform.

I recently applied for a Java Systems Developers position for the feds (I.T. Specialist, GS-11/12/13). Amazingly, with ONLY 2 years of Java dveelopment experience I was the ONLY qualified applicant. They got a dozen apps. The HR person told me that many of them were NOT U.S. citizens. Also, the fact that I was a veteran helped too. Wow! Considering I was unemployed for a while, plus rejected from many other positions, the feds wanted me. Since 9-11, the feds have been more careful in their screening for folks. Incidentally, this was a NON-DEFENSE-related position. Sadly, I know many of you out there are either H-1 or some other visa. I hope the best for you.

Does anyone know of any free to demo downloads for memory leak detection of sorts for LINUX? We're maintaining and OLD (!!!) system in conjunction with our affiliates in India and Shanghai, China, which uses an AWT/Swing GUI, a CORBA IIOP interface and API's written in C/C++. I'm looking for a tool that we can use to look for memory leaks.

Try taking the GOOGLE EMPLOYMENT TEST for any open position at Google in the U.S. India, etc. I'm trying to prepare for it. It's NOT on the web.

Been "terminated" from a job. MAY look at working at Google. Afraid of entrance exam. Anyone have sample GOOGLE Employment (Logic) Tests?
Any tips? Could not find anything on the web....

Yes, I guess I need to post my issue on open forum. If possible, please transfer my last post (dated today) to the open forum. Thanks.
Okay!!! We're NOT going to use neither Crystal Reports, JReport NOR eReport. We cannot afford the pricing for the Enterprise level stuff they have. Any suggestions and reputation knowledge on the following products?

Jasper
Windward
Quadbase ExpressReport

We're looking for any positive and negative comments.

We really appreciate it.

We are a very small organization with a limited budget. We NEED a report and forms generating technology. We want to generate reports and forms linked to any database. We currently have a J2EE application that will be on-line for clients to generate forms and reports. Does anyone have any recommendations (multiple ones) other than Crystal Reports that they can recommend that's affordable?
Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry I have not gotten back to you quickly. Anyway, I am working on your suggestion. However, I am having trouble switching out the form bean with the original form bean saved in the session. Any suggestions?

Here's an issue that I'm sure people have already asked on this board...

I am running STRUTS. In my JSP code, I launch a link to the SAME JSP as a popup. In other words, the same form bean is used in the spawned page. The problem is that after the spawned window is closed, the information in the PARENT form is LOST. Any suggestions???

The parent launches the popup directly from the JSP via JScript or HTML.

Kathy & Bert,

It was a GREAT pleasure meeting you guys. My business partner Bob and I thoroughly enjoyed the "Meet the Author's" event. We're hoping to continue the path in learning of Java technologies. I was the one with the SUN certification propaganda buttons on my shirt. Maybe it was too loud....
