Thanks Christian for quick reply.

Actually I mentioned faces-config.xml because I saw a <component> tag which has <attribute> value to it. I mistakenly thought that we can override the attributes for any class. Something like:

I tried using it with no luck.

I guess I am left with no other option than to go thru each file and update it.

Thanks again

Hi Gurus
I tried browsing the threads but couldnt find what I was looking for. Here is my problem:
We have a huge application which has been in development since last 4-5 years. We are using Richfaces, JSF and Seam on JBoss App Server. There are around a couple of hundred views in our application. Recently due to the change in the names of certain products we offer we had to add a "®" and "©" symbols in the product names.

Currently in all our pages we are not using escape="false" whenever rendering the product names on the pages. Due to this product name change, some of the product have "& copy;" at the end rather than the copyright symbol.

Here is my problem: To solve this we have to either go thru all the xhtml pages (a couple of hundreds in our case) and add escape="false" to each one of them. OR was just searching for options to change the default value of h: outputText's escape to "false"?
Is it possible to achieve this somehow? Maybe by faces config?

TIA Gurus

The response of System.err.println(); is printed on the console as an error message.
Remember all the errors you get while running a class..??? like NullPointerException etc?

Check whether the WEB.xml file has the correct mapping for the j_security_check. As I faced the same problem with Weblogic and fixed up using the same.

Make sure that your mapping is referring to the class in Apache. As this is the only way it can be solved.

I think your question was not clear. But as I understand it, you have 4 different applications (java based - eg JSP or Servlets) and you want to use it with WLPortal (maybe for SSO or a single GUI).

All you have to do is to change your current (4) applications to portlets and deploy it in the Portal.

Correct me if I got your question wrong.

I am currently shifting my application from Share Point Portal to Weblogic Portal.

I have my LDAP directory as ADS and the server I want is SQL Server (instead of PointBase).

Now I am not sure that whether the LDAP can be changed as I want all my authentication and SSO to be done via the ADS server (which resides on a different box).

Has anyone tried or have knowledge on the same, as I am not able to find it on the internet. If yes please enlighten me.

From my personal experience, if you go ahead with the sample application, you would be confused as to how it WLP works.
Start from building a new application itself and then creating portlets and attaching them.
As this would give you exact knowledge of what details you need to change in the XML files etc.
Happy Learning.

I am currently using WL Portal 8.1. By default my BEA Repository is stored in PointBase database.
Has anyone tried to change the database to Oracle or somehting else? Please give me some details about it as I am new to WLP.
Thanks in advance.

I am currently working on WebLogic 8.1 and want to have my web pages multilingual. so that if the user chooses france the whole page is in french. I know that this is supported by the WL8.1 but not sure how to test/activate it.

If anyone knows it please let me know. Or else give me the link of the site where to find it. as I tried dev2dev too.

I am currently developing and SSO application where I take out the Kerberos Ticket from the client and use the credentials for further SSO. Now while browsing the net I came to know about SAML.
If anyone has worked on SAML or is using it for any authentication/ authorization please let me know as I am facing lots of problem doing that.

Actually this is not an applet question but the root cause is the use of applets thats why I thought to put it here.
As applets cannot access anything beyond JVM in the Browser window, a special java.policy file needs to be made to grant access to certain things.
PROBLEM: I am using a class from package which throws exception in checkPackageAccess() function of SecurityManager.
I am using the class in an applet in order to get some information from the client's computer when he is running the applet. Since its internal, we expect that the client's computer has a java.policy file for the same.
Now when I run the applet on the client's computer then the error on the console is access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission

. The problem here is that I am having the following line on my java.policy file "permission java.lang.RuntimePermission """.
So if you could please enlighten me how to go about things then I would be very helpful.

Recently I am using a few classes of the package with JSDK 1.5.

I am facing a lot of problems in searching for the exact Class and functions as the javadocs is not having api for this package. Could anyone of you tell me where to find API for the same as I tried too.

This package is in the rt.jar file.

But read this too...

"It is a common mistake to think that implementing SingleThreadModel makes
JSP thread safe.
This is simply not true.
A web container is free to start more than 1 instance of your JSP page.
If this happens the ThreadSafeModel fails.
With JSP there is no substitute for knowing how to implement a thread
safe web application. "

See if this makes sense... I got this extract from a .pdf file I have, I can only find this line the nearest to answer your quesion.

The isThreadSafe attribute controls whether or not the servlet that results
from the JSP page will implement the SingleThreadModel interface. Use of
the isThreadSafe attribute takes one of the following two forms:

<%@ page isThreadSafe="true" %> <%!-- Default --%>
<%@ page isThreadSafe="false" %>
