Hi
I am trying to write an app for blackberry this is my first one .My app needs to retrieve some information from a database.
The only examples I can find is of html5 databases and sqlite database I think .
Is that what everybody uses?
Any insight would be appreciated..How big could html5 databases be?

Thanks

can anyone help me out here?
I am learning how to program in android and was trying a simple implicit intent example i.e call a number and wanted to see if my app would be invoked
9 years ago
<activity android:name=".PhoneDemo" android:label="@string/app_name">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.CALL" />

</intent-filter>
</activity>

I have an activity called PhoneDemo that should be invoked when intent is call ....

Hi
I think I got it wrong this is from the api.
public static final String ACTION_CALL

Activity Action: Perform a call to someone specified by the data.

What I want to do is allow the user to route his call through my app i.e similar to what happens with skype when you download it on the android.
How do I do that

Hi
I am trying my hand on a simple application that I want triggered when the user dials a number .My activity has an intent ACTION_CALL and hence should be presented to the user to choose at runtime. I am trying this in the emulator and nothing is displayed it says mobile network is not available
Any help appreciated.

JSF

Hi
I am really banging my head over this we are developing an application using JSF and I would like to be able to POST to a specific url and on POST I want to invoke a action method
How do I do that in JSF i.e no command button or command link we just want to do http://blablabla.com/app/handle.iface and post to that url somehow and then trigger an action
I could normally do http://blablabla.com/app?action=doStuff and it would trigger doStuff method how do I do it using a url in jsf

Hi There
I have a daunting task of webservice enabling a c application . All the examples I have start with creating artifacts from a WSDL(apache axis for c) How do I go about generating this WSDL? Do I need to write the WSDL by hand generate my c stuff and then tweak those?
Any ideas

I was reading Andrews SCJD book and I have a little confusion
DvdSocketServer is responsible to handle socket connections

The followign code forks a thread for every socket accepted thereby supporting multiple clients to connect simultaneously

My confusion is why is DVDSocketServer extending Thread? Cant it be a main application that accepts connection and forks out
a thread

Below is source code from suns site for the same

@Subu: What if the customer has a database which is a lot larger than the tiny sample database provided with your assignment? How do you ensure that user changes are persistet in the database file?

Hi Thomas

I am making the assumption that my database cannot be too big (this is afterall a prototype)since if it were I cannot store in may map the record and its record number .But I see where your coming from I could just add that if my record is not in the map go to the db and add it to my map.But if my map goes to a certain (huge) size how does hashmap work when it becomes too big and you add another entry to it --it would be good if it use LRU(least recently used) and kick the entry that hasnt been accessed for a while??
Any comments
Cheers
