I have been going through Ed Roman's EJB book - Mastering EJB - second edition. I came to the conclusion that only the first 11 chapters need to studied to cover the scbcd objectives. Did I conclude right?

Chapters 12 onwards is advanced EJB which is not needed for the exam, correct?

Someone please advice
How did you do in the exam? What are the tips you have for us ? Also, what books did you follow ? How did you find the exam in general?
Have placed an order today for the head first patterns. Can't wait to get it. I love this series. First, it was Head First JSP and Servlets that brought me a great score in SCWCD.

When I started preparing for SCEA, I was desperately looking for the Head First EJB. Now, I can't wait to get my hands on the Head First Patterns.

When I finish my perusal of the book, I will post my comments and how helpful it was for me...(I am pretty sure the book will be amazing as ever and keep me interested....)

When is the ejbCreate call actually made for a stateless session bean. From page 227 of headfirst ejb, it looks as though the call is made when the bean is instantiated and placed in the pool. If that is the case, how come the bean has access to the ejb object (through it's sessionContext) in the ejbCreate method?

Since the ejbObject is created at a different point in time (when create is called on the home object) , and then the ejbObject is associated to the bean at a later point (when a business method is called on the component interface) , isn't it logical to expect that the ejbCreate method does not have access to the ejbObject (considering the fact that the ejbCreate method is called during instantiation and not during the ejbObject creation).
I think you made 83%. In both the exams, SCJP and SCWCD, I calculated the total % and divided by the number of sections (in your case 751/9 = 83%).

It's an awesome score. Congratulations!!

Hey Gautam,

Congratulations on clearing the exam. This exam is the hardest in the Sun cert series and if you cleared, it is definitely worth partying!!

Thanks for the tips. Can you give an approximate weightage/number of questions from each of the objectives. Also, in UML, do we have to interpret diagrams or are there theoritical questions?

Congratulations once more!
Thanks Bert for the reply. Just curious, if it does cover the Gof patterns, isn't it what SCEA needs, as far as patterns go?

Of course, I am talking only about the objectives. If I need to be a good architect, I need to go beyond.

I think this book prepares only for patterns. For the complete objectives, u need a bunch of other books.
I am so in love with the Head first series and wanted to know if the Head First Patterns includes the patterns from GOF ? Does it include all the needed patterns for SCEA?
Thanks a lot Jitin for being so prompt. I got the UCF by email.

Also, thanks to javaranch for being there.
I bought this for a friend and he has his exam in a week or so. It's just terrible that they dont reply to any emails. When I bought the s/w for myself, the customer service was much more prompt. Unfortunately for him, the UCF number hasnt come through. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
I bought the whizlab exams for SCWCD and am having issues with their customer service. For security reasons, they want us to download the s/w and then email support the license number and registration number in order to get a UCF number. I have emailed them almost 5-6 times and they dont reply to any of my e-mails. I have no clue how to get this resolved. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Can anyone suggest what to do.
Do any of you know any good downloadable books for JMS and/or Security?
