Hello,

I am trying to write to a database a Blob value from a String. I use the getParameter method to retrieve the string from the JSP pages, but then the database expects it as a blob. Is there any way to make to conversion from String to Blob or should this be done on the part of the SQLServer?

Thanks!
Is there an IDE that comes with Websphere Application Server 5.1? Are Visual Age 3.5 and WAS 5.1 compatible or do I need to purchase Websphere Studio Site Developer?

I am doing an extreme upgrade- WAS 3.5 to WAS 5.1 and I am trying to figure out how they are different.

Thanks

In WAS 3.5 I have 2 applications running and would like to add a third. I am trying to create another datasource but the machine locks up and in the tracefile I get the error:

'FATAL Failed to create a data source: {0} java.sql.SQLException: Could not open table SE_TABLE in path C:\WebSphere\AppServer\bin\idbStore\tables'

This SE_TABLE is over 188MB! I believe the instantDB database is corrupt? I read that I should open the admin.config file and change "install.initial.config=false" to "true" and to delete the idbStore file. I suppose this will recreate the tables.... Does anyone know the ramifications of this? Will it overwrite all of the existing configurations I have? Is this the right thing to do?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I am trying to create a new datasource in v3.5 and it seems to get stopped up on this table called se_table. It's huge- 188,222 KB . What is this table and do you think it's the cause of my problem with creating a new datasource?

Thanks.

Jeanne,
I did think of doing that but then I would have to make that change in every single file I have which is over 40 plus all my JSP? (see I have packages so changing the root would mean changing everything). There's gotta be an easier way I would think.

Thanks for replying.

I have a project on my desktop that I deploy through Visual Age 3.5. The production version of this is on the Websphere application server. The modifications I am making are done on my desktop. What we would like to do is have a test environment on the actual Websphere server sitting beside the real application. Reason being that there are some weird quirks that are happening on my desktop and therefore we would like to be able to test it in a live environment as well. So is there a way to create a virtual host next to the default host or some way that on the same server I can either point to the test application or the actual one without having to change all the names? (I'm not even so sure virtual host is what I need) I also don't even have a Websphere manual here for the product and there is not much help on the web. Sorry if this is confusing to read. I'd appreciate any help you can give me....I know this version is outdated and we are upgrading soon but for the time being I need to get something working. Thanks!
