Hey,
Any thougts to which version of tomcat to download and use?
Tomcat 4.0 is still beta, but as I understand it, it has a different code base than previous versions, so it's more difficult to just unzip the source to tomcat_home.
Tomcat 3.2.3 is a release version.
What would you do? What are the benefits/improvements to 4.0?

Hello,
Any input on which web servers easily allow for using SSL. I know tomcat supports it, but it looks like I will need two SSL certificates to do it. Does anybody know how well tomcat integrates into IIS?
Thanks,
Chris.

Thanks for the reply. I have experienced this problem in a different manner though. A NullPointerException on the server caused the ORB to raise a COMPLETED_MAYBE exception. Can you explain this too me?

CORBA Exception: completed maybe.
What exactly does it mean when a CORBA calls completion status is maybe, and what causes this.

I am having trouble starting a JVM via JNI. Does anybody know what the return value of JNI_CreatJavaVM indicates?

Does anyone know how to set the default page in tomcat? I would like the link http:/localhost:8080 to default to one of my pages instead of tomcats default page.
Also I would like to know how to disable directory browsing.
Thanks,
chris

Is it possible to, instead of having a classes directory for src code, package all source code into a jar file instead?

If so, where would I put the jar file?

Hello,
I am at the stage of deploying my web app using tomcat. Is jdk required in deployment? I have included the jre, but since the jsp has to be compiled it requires javac.exe, and the jre does not include this. Any suggestions besides requiring a jdk for deployment?
Thanks,
Chris.

Is there any way to have it call valueUnbound once the browser closes??
Hello,
I am having a problem unbinding my session when I close my browser. I use the HttpSessionBindingListener interfaces valueUnbound method to log out, thus terminating my session, but this does not work when I close my browser without logging off since the valueUnbound method must be called. I was wondering if there is a way to let the server side code know that the browser has shut down so I can clean up all of the objects bound to that session. I know the session object goes away when you quit your browser but my server side code needs to clean things up when the session goes away.
Any help is much appreciated.

I have only used xml for use with ant (build.xml), and a to deploy a servlet on startup with tomcat (web.xml). A friend of mine says he uses it to build dynamic web pages. What exactly is xml and what (and where) are its uses? I am involved in the process of building a relatively large web application at the moment, and any tool I can use to make this easier will be much appreciated. Specifically I guess, can you use xml with jsp, and is it advantageous??
Hello,
This is what I need to do:
A jsp which displays a table of variables. For each row, there is a button. When this button is pressed, I need to process some data, and then I would like to have the same page displayed with the updated data displayed.
Any help is much appreciated.
