The main purpose of Seam is, I think, to integrate JSF and EJB3.0.
With Seam, you do not need backing beans with JSF pages. The JSF page talks directly to the Session beans.
Also, Seam provides easier ways to setup (JAAS based) security, state management, etc.

You can download Seam from
http://labs.jboss.com/jbossseam/download/index.html
the download includes number of ready-to-run sample applications (source codes + build.xml's) and documentations including a 270 page easy-to-follow PDF documentation.
The sample applications can be run by following steps:
1. run JBoss 4.x
2. run ant in the sample app's dir
3. point your web browser to the url (e.g., http://localhost:8080/hello1)
(see http://labs.jboss.com/jbossseam/gettingstarted/index.html for more.)

Try:
suncert@Thomson.com
suncert@prometric.com

(Send emails to both and don't forget to provide your Prometric ID.)

SCJD isn't easy. It takes lots of time, energy, and effort to clear this exam.
Congratulations, Sam
It's party time

A record is not physically deleted but marked deleted. So the spot (i.e., associated disk space) of the record becomes available for reuse.

Chulwoo
If your instruction doc requires you to reuse the deleted entry, you should do so.
But in my doc, it says,

So I didn't reuse the deleted entry when creating a new record.

When I insert new record, record number return from creation method will be Rec2 or Rec4?

It's up to you. In my implementation, the new record would be Rec4.

Two persons (subcontractors) are distinguished only by their keys (recNo).
There may be two different persons (subcontractors) who happen to have the same name and location.

Again, consider assigning the record number so that the recNo of the Nth record be N (see above).

Chulwoo
Hi,

You would define recNo so that, for example,
the recNo for the 1st record is 1
the recNo for the 2nd record is 2
...
the recNo for the Nth record is N

The location of Nth record in the database, then, can be found by the following psedu code:

Hi,

In my case, the name of the Jar file had to be
scjda-Prometric_ID.jar
(e.g., scjda-sp1234567.jar).
I came to know about this only when I opened the submission upload page. So I had to go back and change the name of the jar file.

Note the Java platform for version 1.5.x is called J2SE 5.0 (not Java SE 5).
As of version 1.6, the name is simplified to Java SE. So the platform for version 1.6.x would be Java SE 6. Note there is no dot (i.e., it is Java SE 6 not Java SE 6.0).
See Java SE Naming and Versions for more.

  • Each element of the array returned by the "read" method is a field value of the record. For e.g., first element of the array is Name of the record, the second element is Location, etc.
  • Javadoc style comments should be provided for any interfaces, classes, enums, and annotation types and their (public) fields/methods, etc. In DB interface also, you'll have to modify comments to be Javadoc style.
  • Note SCJD exam attempts to emulate real project. So often, the SCJD exam requirements instructions are not thorough and sometimes confusing. And you have to make the appropriate decisions to proceed.

Current Java version is 1.6.0 but java version "1.5.0_06" is fine as long as you submit the project before May of 2008.
