hi dudes,

I am trying to "select" from a mysql table called "quiz".

I can execute the query successfully from command prompt.
select * from quiz;

but using JDBC, I am getting error
Table 'mysql.quiz' doesn't exist

Can anyone tell me why it is accessing "mysql.quiz" instead of "quiz".
what should i do now to tell mysql to look into quiz instead of "mysql.quiz"

gotcha...

I just downloaded jtds jar file and kept in classpath.

and used

Class.forName("net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();
Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://serverip:1433/databaseName",
"userName", "password");

Cheers

Hi dudes,

I am working on an application which list out entries from a database(MSSQL).

These entries get updated by another application every second and i need to display the very latest info on my jsp page.

This means that i need to update part of jsp page(I dont want to refresh the whole page as it increases the network traffic) atleast for every 2 seconds by accessing the database.

can someone throw light on this.

Thanx geremey for ur reply,

I've got the windows box now and had created datasource for remote database using control panel.

I have used this datasource(ds) and used the url "jdbc:odbc:Ds" and i was able to make the connection now.

Should we use the same procedure if i had to work on linux box.
if so, how do i configure odbc drivers on linux box.

Thanx in advance.

%>
<% Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection

Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
ResultSet columns = stmt.executeQuery("select * from CallQueue");
while(columns.next())
{
String cli= columns.getString("cli");
String status= columns.getString("status");
%>
<%=cli%>

Eclipse is cool ...

U can also opt for netbeans.
