Hello,
I have a Masters degree in CS and 5+ years of experience in Java/J2EE for web based applications.I also have SCJP,SCWCD and SCBCD certifications.
Four years back I left my job to be at home with my then newborn and have been at home since. Now I would like to come back to the field, but obviously employers want current experience. How do I get around this? I have been doing practice programming, but nothing to write on resume.
Also, just fyi, I am based in the US.
Please let me know,
thanks.

Hi All,
I am looking for changing domains from development to Project Management or QA and came across certifications from Quality Assurance Institute(QAI). They offer various certs. like Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA),Certified Software Project Manager (CSPM) etc.
Are these useful? I have 6 years development experience in J2EE (Struts,EJB,etc). So combined with the dev. experience would these certifications help for me to make the change.I am located in USA.
Thanks.
Thank you all for the inputs. The reason I was considering using reflection is for this requirement:In the jsp page,a table is to be generated dynamically with column names to be read from the database and then populate the rows with corresponding values. For Ex. if the Column header is Name then the value to be populated should be name; i.e getName() should be called on the bean.So I check what is column then invoke the method.

Thanks,

As was pointed in one of the earlier posts,it depends on the extent to which you have hyped up your resume.I will tell an example: In one of my previous jobs, there was this person who got in as senior programmer by telling he had an experience of 10 years in programming. In a short while, looking at his code and the level of his doubts as well as the number of defects on his features everyone came to know he did not have the experience/expertise he claimed. Not only was he fired, but during his time in the company he was ridiculed.
So hype only that much which you can handle; you would be found out one way or the other.
Best luck.

Hi,
I am done with SCJP, SCWCD and SCBCD exams and was thinking of going for
IBM 486: Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML Test.
My current job involves working with EJB's and struts.
So is this exam a good choice to further my skills or is there any other exam more suitable?
Please advice,
Thanks,
Gauri.
I found these questions useful, because, I feel while answering the interview questions, even though we know the answers, knowing how to put that information in correct and precise words is important; The answers to these questions, gave me an idea, of how much information is enough; because giving too much info. can get boring for the interviwer.
